Alpha Centauri Seamus

Agouti

01/09/2005 - 24/01/2008

Shay was a quintessential agouti cutie, and came to live with me along with his foster brother Harry to keep him company after his mum Kerry brought Harry up with her litter. He was named after Seamus Finnegan, from Harry Potter, and to follow Estelles Irish name theme! The two boys were always very close, although completely opposite in character, with Seamus's quiet, shy gentle nature contrasting with "in your face" attention seeker Harry! They were like chalk and cheese, and I'm sure Harry drove him nuts at times, but the two of them could always be found cuddled up together

Seamus was always a very retiring boy, wasn't overly keen on people he didn't know and usually hid if he heard an unfamiliar voice, but was very fond of me and people he was used to, and loved a good cuddle with a friend :*)

He never had a days ill health in his life, and today was his first and last vet visit  His back legs had gone, he had a large benign tumour which he's been soldiering on with for a while now, and just wasn't enjoying life anymore. He looked so peaceful and dignified when he went to sleep in my arms for the last time, bless him

Sleep well old chap...Harry will miss you greatly, but I'm sure you'll enjoy a well earned rest.

Brother In Arms - Dire Straits

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed your suffering
As the battle raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the sun's gone to hell
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line in your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms
