Cariad Rhoslyn

Black

DOB 11/03/06

7/2/08 was a very sad day at Cariad rats, and I had to say goodbye to not just one, but two beautiful old ladies. Gorgeous black Rhoslyn followed her cousin and inseparable friend Nia over the Bridge this evening, as she had developed a scarily fast growing internal tumour Cry

Rhoslyn was my only doe keeper from Rhiannon and Ciarans litter, and she was the spitting image of her gorgeous mum, and had her lovely placid temperament to match :*)

Rhoslyn, like her mum, also did well at shows as a kitten, but sadly developed a barbering habit as she hit adulthood, so I decided not to breed from her, as I didn't want a whole litter of babies with their furry sleeves rolled up Roll Eyes

Her health was impeccable until she had a nasty bout of pneumonia at about 18 months old, but she made a fairly recovery after an intensive course of antibiotics despite being left with a slight rattle. Sadly, she developed a large lump under one armpit a couple of months ago, which was not operated on due to her history of lung problems. This lump was obviously nastier than it looked, as she developed a far more sinister, internal lump which had grown to the size of a large satsuma within a fortnight.

I decided to let her go, as her lifelong friend and cagemate, Nia, was also doing very badly healthwise, and I felt that it was kinder not to leave one old lady alone. At the rate her lump was growing, I doubt she'd have lasted another week, so she kept her friend company crossing the bridge Cry

Sleep well, my big-eyed sweetheart...go and play with your lovely mum and dad, brother Toby, and best friends Nia and Myfanwy Cry It'll be so strange without my original 3 Cariad girls Cry

Hallelujah - Rufus Wainwright (lyrics originally by Leonard Cohen)

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty
in the moonlight
overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne,
she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you'd let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me do you?
Remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It's not a cry you can hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
