Centauri Delyth
07/03/05 - 29/12/06
I don't know
how even begin writing an obit for my gorgeous blue girl, and I
really hoped I wouldn't be doing it so soon. I know I shouldn't
have favourites, but Del really was very special
I got Delyth from Estelle in Spring 2005, as I'd always wanted a
British Blue....so finally my dream girl arrived after a long
wait!! She was a gorgeous little podgy kitten, unbelievably laid
back compared to the two burmese nutters she lived with...I was
instantly smitten with the colour
Delyth just got lovelier and lovelier with age.....when she was
young she did well in the varieties classes at shows....and went on
to perform very well in the pet classes....she was so unbelievably
big and cuddly for a doe that she got mistaken for a buck on several
occasions! Everyone who met her fell in love with her...and she
became a bit of a celebrity as she was so easily recognised, after
all there aren't that many enormous blue does who like lying on
their backs having belly kisses
Sadly her health had taken a massive decline over the last few
weeks, and she just wasn't my Delyth anymore She just crashed last
Thursday night, and was helped on her way first thing Friday
morning
I'll miss you so much Del, you were the reason that I fell in love
with the variety and wanted to make more lovely cuddly british blues
from that line...it's rare that one rat can make so much of an
impact on my life
Sleep well....I love you
True Blue by John Williamson - used so poignantly for Steve Irwin's
memorial - but also so fitting for my Delyth:
Hey True Blue, don't say you've gone
Say you've knocked off for a smoko
And you'll be back la-ater on
Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue
Give it to me straight, face to face
Are you really disappearing
Just another dy-ying race
Hey True Blue
True Blue, is it me and you
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a co-ockatoo
Is it standin' by your mate when he's in a fight
Or just Vegemi-ite
True-ue-ue Blue, I'm a-asking you
Hey True Blue, can you bear the load
Will you tie it up with wire
Just to keep the show on the road
Hey True Blue
Hey True Blue, now be Fair Dinkum
Is your heart still there
If they sell us out like sponge cake
Do you rea-eally care
Hey True Blue
True Blue, is it me and you
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a co-ockatoo
Is it standin' by your mate when she's in a fight
Or just Vegemi-ite
True-ue-ue Blue, I'm a-asking you...
True Blue, is it me and you
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a co-ockatoo
Is it standin' by your mate when he's in a fi-ight
Or just Vegemi-ite
True-ue-ue Blue, True-ue-ue Blue
