About Cariad Rats
Housing: My rats are kept in good sized cages in a heated, purpose built outdoor shed. The cages I prefer are the Savic Freddy 2, the Marchioro Tom and the Nero 3 for my older gentlemen. They are given a thorough clean out weekly, and spot wiped regularly. They are bedded on ecobed cardboard squares, with paper nesting material for the winter months. Each cage is supplied with igloos, hammocks and toys. Each rat is cuddled and checked daily, to make sure that all are well handled and in good health. Feeding: My rats are all fed on the Shunamite Diet, with added veg and the very occasional healthy treat. Ethics: I never cull any of my rats, for any reason. If a rat is very unwell, with no hope of recovery, and no quality of life, it is taken to the vet for humane euthanasia. If any of my rats become ill they are taken to the vet for treatment. I hold a great deal of respect for this vet, and can provide details to anyone local. If you would like to enquire about kittens, please use the contact button on this page. I will then send out an application form for you to fill in. You may then be added to my waiting list for suitable kittens. I never home lone rats, if you are expecting similar aged rats from another breeder, then please let me know of your circumstances and we can discuss what the best course of action would be. All kittens are sold under pet only contract unless otherwise arranged. Please remember also that if you are after a specific variety, you may have to wait until I have one available, as the waiting lists are often longer for more popular varieties.
